In nine days, I'll be participating in Blogathon. Not sure what a Blogathon is? From the site:
"Remember when you were in school and you would bowl for charity? And for every pin you knocked down you got, say, ten cents? Or run for a dollar a mile? During the Blogathon, people update their websites every 30 minutes for 24 hours straight. For this, they collect sponsorships. Pledges can be a flat donation, or a certain amount for every hour the blogger manages to stay awake."
So for 24 hours straight, I'll be blogging with two teams every half an hour to raise money for two excellent charities. Here's where you come in: I need you to sponsor me.
This year, I'm taking on two blogs!
I'll be blogging at Potterthon 2007 with a team of avid Harry Potter fans, where we will discuss all things HP (books 1-6, movies, fanart, etc). We're raising money for First Book, a charity providing books to low income kids.
I'll also be over at Seeworthy with Sheana doing our usual online game reviews and raising money for Heifer International, an organization that provides renewable resources (in the form of farm animals) to help end hunger. Our goal is to raise enough for a heifer ($500) and we're matching donations up to $125.
So, if either of these is something you can get behind, please go register to be a sponsor (you only need to give your name and email) and then go here to sponsor Potterthon or here to sponsor Seeworthy.
On the 29th, when this whole thing is over, you'll get an email from Blogathon reminding you to go the the charity's website and make your donation. The money goes straight from you to them without being handled by us or blogathon, so no worries there.
Please remember that no donation is too small and each will be greatly appreciated. Also, don't forget to stop by Potterthon and Seeworthy on July 28th to cheer us on and check out the fun!
